The Original, Girl with a Pearl Earring....

Our practice canvas incomplete .

It was at this point I decided to divert from the original lines altogether and age her some 5 or 8 years. I took out her mouth completely and redone it with an imaginary shot of estrogen.
And we got...Young Woman with a Pearl Earring

As you can see, I redefined her eyes, Made her nose slightly more defined and closed her mouth and gave her an enigmatic smile. (As oppossed to the slight slack lipped look of terror in the originial.) I also brought out her foehead to smooth her brow, even though I totally resisted the urge to give the poor girl some eyebrows.
I thinned her cheeks and her jaw slightly and thickened the neck for better proportion at the back of her neck.
The eyes are injected with silver to get the clear effect of her pale blue eyes.
As always, click to enlarge for details.
Thank you Sparrow and Carol. I really enjoyed the input. Interactive art, I LOVE IT!
We should do this more often.

Cool, Christy!!!!
That was fun seeing how you made her into a college student of today. (At least that's how she appears to me.)
I've been watching your site for most of the day waiting for your update. I was watching the wrong thread though.
Anyways, thanks for the interactive art.
Christy,
I love it! She has the same sadness, but with a more wry look or something.
You have a great talent!
Thanks you guys. Me too, this was very fun for me.
She does look like a modern college student. That is very cool. I was afraid I would age her too much, but she is just right.
She does have a wry look, and sad too, now that you point it out I see it. Right around her eyes, they do seem kind of mournful. The smile almost offsets it, but not quite.
I love seeing how they finish, it is always somewhat of a surprise and you don't know exactly what you will get until it is done. The lightest stroke can comnpletely change their expressions. With her, I am so glad I aged her, gave her a more serene look. Once I saw that I knew I wasn't going to mess with her anymore.
She was a pretty girl, it was unfortunate he could not have waited for her to grow up because she I would bet money she was much prettier as a woman.
I just realized, looking at the actual canvas.. Her eyes follow you!
Very freaking cool!
The more I look at her the more I just love this one too.
I love them all, but some are just prettier than others. She is very pretty.
