Gauguin - Tahitian Women (on a beach)

That's where I'd like to be!  On the beach in Tahiti!  Gauguin went to Tahiti in 1891 to escape fame, family, middle class existance.  Some days,  that sounds good too!

There is something about his Tahitian girls that always bothered me.

I always feel like I am looking at a masters painting of his sex slaves. The women seem... repressed. Unhappy. It is unsettling.

Maybe it is just me, but I prefer his work pre Tahiti.

I wouldn't want to live near or on a Tahiti beach Carol. Queensland was bad enough. Beautiful beaches. Hot sea!!! Where do you go to cool off with a swim? Nowhere. You move south to Tasmania and cool off in the cool sea!!! Perfect.
