I always wonder at the whole point of stealing famous works of art. You'd never sell them for much money. So - other than the money - why? You couldn't hang it on your wall. No one would believe it was real. If they did, they'd be out there to pick up the reward.
What is the point?
Oh yes, there are walls to hang them on, probably in a private vault.
Whoever hit the Gardner had a shopping list.
The point...is the PRIZE.
People murder each other over lesser things every day. A masterpiece all to yourself... Now that is something even I would steal for.
It is about the things we covet.
No one steals masterpieces to fence them.
They steal them because they already have a buyer.
