You are not kidding! Amazing indeed! History and art; both are needed for the real story to be revealed. Sometimes all you can do is gasp.

When I saw it I did gasp! Christian too!

I can't wait for Cedric to see it. He has a real eye for Asian art.

That is just freaking beautiful! And it just goes on and on...

Thanks for even more Asian art, Christy!

YW Ally!

I have always wanted to study Asian and African art in depth, but I kinda lingered on the Italians and never got around to it. It is funny how we all kinda stick to our own culture and we do not realize how strange it is that other cultures are completely absent.

Those pics you posted of the gardens is so pretty! I love the perfection of Asian forms. Their art never seems incomplete. Except the lions, they disturb me.

I showed the pics to my man and told him I wanted to do that to our yard.

He just looked at me funny. Which all I can say does not mean 'No!'.

We have to tear down this house first though before we can landscape the property,

I hate waiting.

BTW, TY Ally for sharing with us.

Even better than art your pics actually take us there and I think it is such a beautiful culture I just love looking at your pics.

I am familiar with their art, but it all feels so new again!

And interpreting that NK propaganda posters. Wow! that is too freaking cool. I have wondered for years what type of crazy crap they were saying on those posters! You rock!

Now we can spy on them!

HAHAHA!

"Sticking to one's own culture" is exactly what my curriculum consisted of in college. BTW, I went to the most conservative, Republican member of the Ivy League, Columbia.

Its "Core Curriculum" requires one year of Western literature, one year of Western civilization, one semester of Western art, and one semester of Western music. After the nonwhites and the PC white liberals complained, they changed it so that two semesters of non-Western cultures would also be required, as well as the study of Islam in the Western literature class (Judaism and Christianity were already covered).

The non-Western culture classes weren't all that great though - instead of an overview of major world civilizations, it was just learning about only one or two civilizations I had any interest in. I studied Chinese and Korean histories, leaving me in the blank about African, Middle Eastern, and Native American cultures (or even other Asian cultures like Japanese and SE Asian).

Thanks!

Well, we really need to build two villas in Nova Scotia - one Roman for you, one Asian for me.

I need to really come up with funding.

And of course, the Asian villa will have some Asian lesbian art that the Confucio-Christian historians have tried so hard to destroy.

You went to Columbia?

Holy. Crap. I did not know that.

Ummm. Seriously, wow.

I used to dream about going to Columbia. You know, back when I still though perhaps pigs could maybe fly.

Every time I learn something new about you Ally, I swear I like you more.

Just don't blow anything up or behead anyone. Other than that, I love you, you are my hero.

Thanks Christy!

Don't worry about me shooting anyone up anytime soon - gun control is extremely strict in South Korea. I've been told that only hunting rifles are allowed (no handguns or concealed weapons) - and even then, they must be kept at the local police station, to be checked out every time they are to be used.

As a result, most violent crimes use kitchen knives. (Even then, such crimes are extremely rare, with the possible exception of rape - only because the Korean sex culture is so repressive.)

Hell yes!

Some of that stuff is straight porn though. Yall Asians are some kind of freaky sexy. I mean that stuff is the most DETAILED sex art I have ever seen. Ever.

Two villas! Haha. No just one, for you. Asian is good. I can paint you a masterpiece of any style you like.

Funding. Hmmm.

Perhaps instead of a private home you could build a small hotel in the theme of the style. With a day spa. An exclusive one. And one open to the public.

The idea of a public bath was popular in both Asia and Rome. Here this far west it would barely have any competition at all and it would still be just as popular. It is not only a novelty it is a luxury we never are allowed to indulge in. It still is popular in Asia.

I think it would sell, especially if it is a stunningly beautiful place to go. Sell well.

You can have a small apt on the premises until you upgrade.

Or I can go take a walk and think up something else totally brilliant.

HAHA!

Ally, if you did do an Asian villa, would it be done in the green and blue?

Oh, my. That would be so beautiful and calming. With silver and deep red woods.Oh lala!

What colors would you do it in? You know. Hypothetically, so I can quit guessing at colors...?

If we went ahead with the Asian villa, I'd probably use Chinese architecture with Korean color schemes. Just like that Chinese-Korean hybrid shrine I posted today.
