The FLATSTOCK poster show series is presented by the American Poster Institute (API). It is an ongoing series of exhibitions featuring the work of many of the most popular concert poster artists working today. The FLATSTOCK shows provide the general public with an ongoing series of opportunities to see fine poster art in person and to meet the artists who've created it -- they provide the API with a way to present the poster artists collectively while showcasing the breadth of individual styles they represent. heading now to Germany & Chicago

This is amazing, DiAnne. We've been brought up to believe that posters are - well - just posters. But they are a whole other genre in the art world. Perhaps closest to graphic art which often requires a gigantic message to be told in one small space that will reach a magnitude of people of all ages. The task seems very daunting indeed.

Having said that about a small message, on my wall to my immediate left is a large poster designed by Barbara Flores. The poster is about Clarissa Pinkola Estés's book Women who run with the Wolves.

It's a lot of text, some very small, a gorgeous border and the most beautiful child-like representation of a woman and wolves of various colors in a nighttime scene of outdoor domesticity, nurturing, celebration, wildness and joy. I wish I could photograph it. I have the equipment. I don't have the skills. If I am ever able to, I would post it here. It uses all the colors but concentrates on the brightness of earthy tones . Describing it is too hard. I will see what I can do.
