Love conquers vengeance?

I don't recall seeing a painting that really shows fear. In this painting I'd expect Helen to be afraid for her life but she kind of seems more - enamored. As though he is a suitor rather than her potential killer.

To me she looks resigned.

There must have been a lot of people who wanted her dead. Just her presence would have caused me to kill her myself.
